History

Build

Steve began his career in architecture as a Qualified Builder of quality homes where his pleasure in developing 'something to last' led to an interest in the technical aspects of building. By 1995 Steve had completed his first small 'design and build' project and subsequently studied to gain his Architectural Design qualifications.

Design Build

In 1999 Steve operated his own residential design and build company compiling many successful projects, one of which is a development of a new dwelling on an 86 acre block in Puhoi. This ply and batten house was designed and constructed by Steve and the project involved developing all of the amenities required for a household unit. The success of this project put Steve on his way to where he is today.

Architectural Design

Now Steve provides a full architectural design service, focussing on designing to his client's requirements and management of the entire building project ensuring a smooth and stress free process from your concept through to completing your quality home.

What Steve's Clients say

As a property developer I have encountered many architect professionals and Steven Morton is one exception I found his Frank and honest opinion to be refreshing along with his gentle persuasion as he personally tutored my knowledge on construction and the results of our last project speaks for itself. Developing the concept in his office using the latest 3D CAD computer program I found to be invaluable in finding and ironing out all of the kinks which made the project run smoothly, also having the viewer I was able to view the project in my own time so when it came time to produce the construction documents I was happy and content to move forward.

Our project was a large scale renovation and extension for a 1890 era villa in Mount Eden. This was our first major renovation and build and we knew that choosing a designer and architect was an important first step. We interviewed a few architects before we met Steven and didn't feel that any were the right fit for us and our project. A friend recommended Steven and we engaged his services after our first meeting.

Steven had a lot of patience for us and accommodated our many changes and requests. Even though Steven had many projects underway, we always felt we were an important client to Steven and he always responded to us in a timely manner. Steven would frequently tell us that he just wanted to design the house that we are happy with.

All plans were able to be viewed in 3D software that enabled us to view the house and rooms from various angles. This greatly helped our ability to visualise what our house would look like. We feel that Steven's previous experience as a builder meant he was able to advise on the practicality of our design which helped to reduce cost and make it easier for our building team.

We have no hesitation in recommending Steven for anyone looking to engage a quality architectural designer. His rates were extremely competitive and we realise our project would have cost significantly more had we engaged one of the architects we had originally met.
